Yūki Shrine (結城神社 yūki jinja) is a shrine in Tsu that is well-known for its weeping plum blossoms which bloom every year in February.

Events

  • Hanami : Late February through early March.
One of the few places in Mie offering a high concentration of weeping plum trees, it is an especially popular spot during the ume blooming season. It depends on the year, but the trees bloom around the middle of February and will last into early March. The trees are in a garden within the shrine grounds.

Directions

By Bus

Catching a bus from Tsu Station is your best bet for those without cars.

Head out the east exit of the station(JR side) and wait at bus stop #2. Most buses bound for either Tempaku (天白), Sun Valley (サンバレー), or Yonezu (米津) will get you there. I say "most" because you have to make sure you are on a bus that goes through the Yanagiyama (柳山) area or it won't go by the shrine.

The destination bus stop is Yūki Jinja Mae (結城神社前) and it is about a 15-20 minute ride from Tsu Station.

By Train

The shrine can be reached from Akogi (阿漕) Station on the JR Kisei Main Line, but it's best to just ride to Tsu and take the bus which runs more frequently than the train.

By Car

Just off Route 23 south of central Tsu. You should see signs for it between downtown Tsu and the Sun Valley Jusco.
