Places To Eat

1) Boulanger Tanakaya - about a 3 minute walk from Takayama Station (JR高山駅), this is a fantastic bakery and patisserie that sells possibly the best bread in Japan. Their cakes are equally delicious, and their coffee is not to be scoffed at.

2) Rakuda Cafe (らくだCafe) - a nice little boho cafe near the Takayama festival museum. Relaxed environment, friendly staff, good food. Some veggie options.

3) Chapala - A casual Mexican place in the "downtown" area. The food is pretty good - maybe not as good as El Panchos in Osaka, but it's less grungy, the food is respectable and the staff are friendly.
